Are you struggling to get enough fruits and vegetables into your diet?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal live. John 3:16 (NIV) |
Do you stress about what to make for your next meal?
Are you interested in making easy, quick, fun AND nutritious meals and snacks?
A meal doesn't have to be a five course selection. It doesn't have to be cooked. It can be as simple as blending a few nutritious ingredients in a blender in just a couple of minutes and coming up with a fabulous and filling meal in a glass.
Smoothies are a nutritious and convenient meal drink that can be made anytime of day. With just a few simple ingredients, a blender and a small amount of time, you can learn how to make a smoothie that meets all of your needs and satisfies your cravings.
Famous natural health teacher and author Ann Wigmore spent much of her life educating people about the healing properties of living foods, especially in blended form. Ann shared this conviction in the following quote, "After being saved from the grip of disease and death, I believe that health is our birthright when we follow nature's simple laws. The body will heal itself of any illness when it is given living, enzyme rich, easy-to-digest nourishment. Anyone can experience the benefits of such nourishment in just two to four weeks of blended living foods."
Smoothies can be made from a variety of ingredients which can include fruit, vegetables, leafy greens, herbs, seeds, nuts, tea, juice, broth, nut milk, diary milk, yogurt, water, raw eggs, omega-3 oils and supplements.
Smoothies are a great way to incorporate certain supplements into your diet. They are easy to make, fun and very flexible to modify for your own personal preferences.
Now, let's get on with the basic steps of how to make a smoothie.
Smoothie Steps:
Position your blender on a clean counter or table.
Select your smoothie ingredients.
You will need a liquid base of approximately
1-2 cups for one serving size, your whole food
ingredients and any supplements or herbs.
Add the whole food ingredients into the blender. Then,
add the liquid followed by the supplements and herbs.
Tip: Adding the herbs and supplements after the liquid
helps keep them from sticking to the bottom of the
blender. Tip: Frozen fruit will make your smoothie thicker.
Tip: If you are not using
frozen ingredients and you would
like a frozen treat, add ice cubes a few at a time until you
get the thickness you desire.
Once all your ingredients are in place, put the lid on your blender and turn it on using a medium or high setting. Depending on your blender, a liquefy or puree setting is good. Blend until you no longer hear the fruit or ice cubes bouncing around. Tip: If your smoothie is really thick and not blending completely, shut the blender off and stir the ingredients around with a spoon. If it is too thick, add more liquid. Caution: It is wise not to stir ingredients while your blender is on as it is very easy to accidentally catch your spoon in the blender's blades. This may ruin your spoon, blender and smoothie. Also, blending the ingredients with the lid off your blender can make a terrible mess all over you, the counter and the floor.
When the smoothie is blended to your liking, pour into a large glass, add a straw and enjoy!
Tip: Adding protein powders, supplements and herbs to your smoothies is a great way to boost your energy and get additional needed nutrients.
